Turquoise

Who doesn't like turquoise?  The name turquoise comes from the old French word "turkish".  It is believed turquoise got its' name because the mineral was brought to Europe from this region of Asia. Turquoise is formed by water acting on aluminum and copper, which gives the stone its blue colouration.  Shades of green turquoise are formed from iron impurities.  Turquoise is actually soft and requires stabilization or it will stain or break.  It has a wonderful waxy to viterous luster.
